Time and space to thrive
Do you feel that you have little time for yourself, let alone time to reflect, reconnect and check-in on where you’re truly at? Feeling ‘time poor’ is a very common modern life complaint.
Coaching Immersion Days. Consider them a gift to yourself. They are a condensed version of the coaching while walking programmes that I began over 12 years ago. They are ideal for clients who might find it hard to commit to regular weekly coaching.
Consider them a gift to yourself – an extended period of time for self-reflection in natural green space.
I had the pleasure of taking a journalist on a coaching day experience in Hyde Park.
The beauty of the all-day format is that it gave Karen the chance to see the real me. It was all about taking things at my pace; if I wanted a coffee break I could flag it, if I needed to take a 15-minute sojourn alone so I could process any insights I'd had, that was fine too. - Miriam, Journalist
It’s a more intense coaching experience where you’ll have my undivided attention, support and guidance over a half or full day, providing a truly precious opportunity to unearth some deep-seated issues, to have a deeper conversation about how your life is going or to talk through a major life event or decision.
Although I wasn't expecting any 'aha' moments, the day brought up something I was grappling with from an entirely new perspective, and everything I'd been holding in, without realising it, had bubbled up to the surface.
Throughout the day Karen asked gentle probing questions designed to challenge some of my fixed ways thinking about certain areas in my life. - Miriam, Journalist
The immersion days are also ideal for clients who want to get away from their usual day-to-day demands and routine and into nature (e.g. one of London’s many parks or to the Surrey or Sussex countryside). All clients need do is turn up - I arrange train tickets, a delicious lunch, snacks and refreshments.
Everything was taken care of, that meant I could de-clutter my mind to keep focused on getting the most out of Karen's coaching. - Adeline
Coaching Immersion Days
Coaching Immersion Days evolved from my own deep connection with and experience of spending time in green space. When I’m in nature, I feel connected to something bigger than myself - this helps me gain perspective and clarity about the things that most matter to me. Green space is also where I’m at my best.
Karen had an intimate knowledge of the terrain we were walking and her pacing of the coaching conversation matched the lay of the land in an easy and appropriate way, allowing silent thinking time as well as time for listening and exploration. - Adeline
Being surrounding by trees, open green space, the Serpentine and Karen's positive and reassuring energy meant that I felt 'held' and safe, I 'dropped into' the realest version of myself as the day went on. - Miriam, Journalist
I offer two types of Coaching Immersion Days - Coaching While Hiking Days and Coaching Days in one of London’s large parks. Both immersion experiences allow time and space to reflect, to walk and talk through an issue or area of life that feels stuck and to gain new ideas or a radically different perspective on things that might support a major life change.
Having a whole day to support, guide and witness a client’s journey of change is hugely rewarding. I love the pace and flow of a whole day of coaching in open green space: talking things through, pausing, reflecting, going deeper to then pause again to see what has emerged throughout the day: insights, learnings, making a plan and sharing a deep feeling of satisfaction about a day well spent. Karen Liebenguth
We tended to walk off the beaten track onto grassy areas so I felt reassured that my life's story wasn't being 'judged' by anyone else. - Miriam, Journalist
Karen's ability to listen and pick up on the most important themes proved spot on. This has been very helpful to me and has energised me. - Adeline
Coaching While Hiking Days offer a chance to truly ‘get away from it all for a day’ – they are perfect for clients who love adventure and the great outdoors, who have an explorer mind, who feel energised and inspired by doing something new. I like to take clients to the east Sussex coast or the beautiful Surrey Hills. The day offers a complete break from routine and usual city environment.
The experience as a powerful life review that inspired me to be braver and will, I'm sure, help kick-start my life's new direction. - Miriam, Journalist
A Coaching Immersion Day in London takes place in one of London’s many fabulous parks. Clients often choose Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park, Regent’s Park, Hyde Park or Greenwich Park…
What does a full day of coaching look like from start to end?
A typical Coaching While Hiking Day looks like this:
We’d meet and greet at one of London’s train stations. The coaching journey begins on the hour-long train journey, where we’ll explore and clarify an agenda, the areas of focus, and set clear and manageable outcomes, allowing us to check progress.
On arrival, we’ll set off on the hike and begin to walk and talk through one of the issues or areas of exploration. From time to time we’ll pause, fill our senses with the beautiful surroundings, the wide open views across the countryside. We’ll stop too for an occasional break. I also invite clients to take a moment to reflect on what has emerged so far in the conversation.
Things always take time to process – and that’s the beauty of having a full day coaching, there’s enough time and space for talking, reflecting, taking stock of where we’ve got to. Half way through the day we’ll stop for lunch – either a lunch picnic or pub lunch. The south coast offers many wonderful picnic spots. My favourite is right on the beach with stunning views over the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.
After lunch, we’ll check in on the morning, capture any insights and new understandings and set the agenda for the afternoon so that we stay on track with the outcomes for the day. We’ll walk and talk some more. I may suggest some quiet time if it feels right to enjoy and take in nature around us, to still the mind, to go deep and to allow you to see a little further into your life.
On the train journey back we’ll review the day, what we’ve achieved, worked through and summarise clear action steps to move forward. We’ll also discuss what clients want to be held accountable for so that I - as the coach - can send specific accountability prompts between the coaching day and the follow up session, enabling sustainable change to happen.
