From Workplace Unhappiness to Workplace Happiness

We spend more of our time working than doing anything else, and researchers have found that these hours are on average the least happy of our lives. Widespread stress in knowledge-based industries accounts for a large proportion of workplace absence and represents a huge loss of national productivity.[1]

Companies now recognise that the investment in employee mental health and emotional resilience in the workplace is as essential as investment in employees’ professional skills and physical health.

I work alongside HR-managers and leaders to develop a programme based on mindfulness specifically tailored to the needs of their company. I share guidance and knowledge to create a culture of wellbeing so they can feel confident knowing that they are doing the best they can for their staff.

Recognised benefits of mindfulness practice are: Increased self-awareness, emotional and mental resilience, focus, collaboration, decision making and innovation – overall happier, healthier and engaged staff.

I always start with a complimentary initial conversation to find out about your organisation’s culture so that the mindfulness programme is tailored to your company’s needs.

Over the past year I have been attending Mindfulness in the Workplace Masterclasses at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre directed by leaders in the field within mindfulness training, teaching and research.

I have been delivering mindfulness courses since 2014 and have had an established mindfulness and meditation practice for 10 years. I trained with Breathworks-Mindfulness UK, one of the UK’s leading mindfulness training organisations. I follow the Good Practice Guidelines set out by the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations.

There are many mindfulness teachers now in London and UK, but many are not properly qualified or experienced, so do take care when you book a program of mindfulness. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about my background and experience.

I have worked with: Kew Gardens, Adam & Eve DDB, TSSA Union, Unison, Reed Recruitment, TUC, Here East, Working Well Trust, CNWL NHS Foundation Trust, Aromatherapy Associates, Hachette Publishing UK, to name just a few.

Karen ran a short session to introduce our staff to the concept of mindfulness. The session really helped our organisation understand how focusing on the moment can not only reduce our workplace stress levels but also ensure we are focused and productive whilst at work. Some staff have moved on to the full 6-week course. Sarah, HR Manager, TSSA London
